To put it simply... Yes!

Police surplus can be useful and has a purpose outside of the typical Police life...

It does however need to be used responsibly. If it has a badge, it should only be used in a private setting (Memorabilia collection, TV of Film purposes etc.) where it will not be used or visible in a public space.
